The problem
Private tutors run many groups, from primary to secondary school, and often track attendance and marks in notebooks while updating parents over chat. The university product doesn't fit them: there, a university owns the courses. Here, the teacher is the business.
What it does
- The teacher creates their own groups and seats students from primary through secondary.
- Attendance, short quizzes and sheets inside each session.
- A gradebook with publishing rules.
- A monthly report for each parent.
- Everything inherited from the Classawy core: OTP sign-in, roles, notifications, uploads, reports and Excel import.
Under the hood
01
One core, two products
The product is a rebranded copy of the Classawy core, not a git fork. It has its own history, its own database and its own secrets, and never shares a binding with the university product.
02
Tokens can't cross products
Tokens carry a product-specific issuer and audience, so a token from the university app is rejected here. Every secret was generated fresh for this product.
03
Deploys that fail loudly
Every cloud resource id starts as zeros. Only the provisioning scripts may fill them, and they refuse any name the university product owns, so a wrong deploy stops instead of touching real student data.
